SUMMARY:COALITION HAVDALAH BY THE LAKE
DESCRIPTION:\n\nOur generous hosts Ted and Hannah Shear will be holding a l
ake observance for our late afternoon Havdalah ritual.* This special\nserv
ice that ends Shabbat is full of mystical meaning and beautiful music. Tog
ether we will end\nShabbat outside by the water\, share poetry\, readings
and song to help us enter the new week\, and look\nahead to the continued
warmth of summer. No need to be fancy - come wearing your casual best! We\
nwill have some sweet desserts and wine to share.\n\nJoin us!\n\n\n\n\nHav
dalah is a Hebrew word that means “separation” and is the ritual that
ends Shabbat\, separating it from the start of the new week. The service c
an take place in the home\, in synagogue or in a group.&nbsp\;A beautiful
ritual\, it’s a brief ceremony that uses four elements to mark the momen
t we sadly say goodbye to the beauty of Shabbat\, and pledge to carry its
gifts into the week to come.\n\nWe drink from a cup of wine – which symb
olizes the joy we experienced on Shabbat. We pass a spice box (full of cin
namon or another sweet smelling spice) – which symbolizes the lingering
scent of the sweetness of Shabbat. We light a multi-wicked candle – whic
 h symbolizes how our busy separate selves come together on Shabbat.&nbsp\;
The light\, the wine\, and spices all come together to help us carry Shab
bat with us through the week until the next Shabbat.&nbsp\; We extinguish
the candle into the wine to conclude the ceremony\, as a final moment of
“goodbye” to Shabbat.\n\n&nbsp\;With the singing of Shavua Tov and Eli
yahu haNavi we wish each other a “good week” to come and long for a da
 y when Shabbat won’t need to end at all!\n\n[gravityform id="3" title="t
 rue" description="true"]\n\n\n\n
