DESCRIPTION:Professor Benhalim is an Associate Professor at the University 
 of Colorado Law School.&nbsp\;\nHer research explores the intricate inters
 ection of religion and law. She focuses on two areas: the development of J
 ewish and Islamic law in modern secular contexts\, and the application of 
 Islamic law in private and commercial spheres. Through comparative analyse
 s\, she investigates how secular environments influence interpretations of
  religious law\, particularly for minority faiths. This work aims to evalu
 ate interactions between competing legal values and propose balanced solut
 ions.\nCurrent projects examine a range of critical topics. These include 
 oppression in private law\, Islamic sexual freedom\, women’s legal statu
 s\, abortion in religious law\, and ethical conduct in Muslim leadership.&
