DESCRIPTION:\n\nJonathan Gribetz is a professor in the Department of Near E
 astern Studies and in the\nProgram in Judaic Studies.&nbsp\; He teaches ab
 out the history of Zionism\, Palestine\,\nIsrael\, Jerusalem\, and religio
 n and nationalism in the modern Middle East.&nbsp\; He\ndirects the progra
 m for the Transregional Study of the Contemporary Middle East\,\nNorth Afr
 ica\, and Central Asia and serves as Editor of the Association for Jewish\
 nStudies journal\, the AJS review.\n\nDr Gribetz's first book was "Definin
 g Neighbors: Religion\, Race and the Early Zionist Arab Encounter.”&nbsp
 \; His most recent book\, “Reading Herzl in Beirut: The PLO Effort to Kn
 ow the Enemy” analyzes the history of the Palestine Liberation Research\
 nCenter and its studies of Jews\, Judaism\, Zionism\, and Israel.\n\nOur s
 peaker received a Fulbright scholarship and two grants from the National E
 ndowment for the Humanities to support his work and the book was awarded t
 he 2024 National Jewish Book Award in History.\n\nJoin us for what is sure
