Kathy Marks and Carolyn Setlow, co-chairs of the Community
Social Action Committee of the Coalition, want to bring to your
attention this SCOTUS Eve Vigil for Wisdom on Sunday,
October 5 at 6 pm on the Washington Green near their Church.
Members of the Greater Washington Coalition for Jewish Life
are invited as members of the Washington Council of
Congregations, and it would be wonderful if we had a good
representation at this interfaith event.
In Rev. Gray’s words, ‘We’re having a vigil to pray for wisdom as
the next session of the US Supreme Court gets ready to start.
Among the cases on the upcoming docket is one that will try to remove bans on Conversion Therapy,
a harmful practice that tries to talk LGBTQ+ people out of who they are. We’ll be gathering
somewhere on the Green at 6 pm on Sunday, October 5th, to pray for wisdom and courage, and
reflect on what it means to love each other.
Special guest speaker Ken Nwadike, Jr (the Free Hugs
guy) will be joining us.”
