The American Jewish community was actively engaged in the American Civil Rights Movement. Our community saw a link between the struggles in Eastern Europe and the African-American community, and there are interesting examples of how the Jewish community mobilized around civil rights
Together, we will look at some text, sermons and video clips of Jewish involvement in the movement for Civil Rights, and look at how that engagement influenced relationships between the African-American and Jewish communities then and now.
